Hello friends,
My name is Shawn, but this story isn't about me. I'm a husband and caregiver to someone special to me that struggles daily with this horrible disease. We have spent long hours going ER to ER and sometimes days looking for help during a manic episode. Then having to hold her tightly while she cries in my arms in fear of what she may have done or said to the ones she loved. The lack of facilities and resources to care for people in their darkest times is sub-par to say the least.
When I seen "Bigger Than the Trail" pop up on the Dino Valley Endurance Run, I thought what a great way to give some awareness and show support to my wife's mental health and anyone else struggling with this.
I only have to suffer for either 100 miles or thirty plus hours, while those with this illness, battle every day of their lives.
I've had my closest friends and family sign my Bigger Than the Trail t-shirt that i will wear on my last lap. Come show support to all runners and keep them in the fight out on that trail. Keep Moving Foward is the name of the game.
